we’ve got the role for you!
Whichever position you would like to do, you’ll be needed at Al-Manaar on Saturday 10 September from 9.00am and depending on your role, will finish around 3.00pm. If you have any questions over timings, please let us know and we can give you more details.
What are the volunteer positions available?

To direct walkers around the 8 mile route, encourage and cheer them on and inform them of any hazards. You will be walking the 8 miles as a pace maker, helping walkers keep to the right way and ensuring no one is lost of left behind. You must be physically fit and able to walk 8 miles comfortably. Full training and briefing of the route will be given prior to the event. This role is based outside.
- Merchandise Volunteer
To sell our official charity merchandise at the event. This role is based inside at our starting and finishing venues. Where is this happening?
- Registration Desk Volunteer
Your job will be to welcome walkers and register them as they arrive. You will also sign walkers back in when they have completed the walk and direct them to where they can receive their finishers drink. You’ll need to get yourself from Al-Manaar to Chelsea Theatre but we can help with expenses. And suggested transport? This role is based inside.
- Cheer Squad Volunteer
We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join us at our cheer points around Kensington + Chelsea. Your role will be to make as much noise as possible to cheer on our team of amazing walkers and help keep them going on the course. Your support will make a huge difference to our walkers experience and will boost their fundraising to get us one step closer to a borough where everyone can live happy, healthy and fulfilled lives!
Is there a minimum age?
Yes, to be a Route Steward or Merchandise Desk Volunteer you must be over 18 due to health and safety as you may be walking in busy, built up areas and at times may be on your own and handling cash.
We welcome those of all ages to volunteer for the positions of registration desk and cheer squad volunteers. However, under 16s to must be accompanied by an appropriate adult, whom they know, and who is over the age of 18.
Do I need to have specific skills and experience to volunteer?
No, our event volunteer roles do not require you to have any specialist experience or skills. All we ask is that you come with a friendly and welcoming attitude ready to cheer, clap, whoop, smile and offer words of encouragement to our amazing walkers!
We will also provide you with a briefing sheet before the event and a further comprehensive briefing on the morning before the walkers arrive.
