Preparing To Meet The Challenges of 2021 in K+C

Happy New Year to all of you and I hope you had a restful break over Christmas.

We start 2021 feeling proud of all that the K+C Foundation was able to achieve last year during the Covid 19 pandemic, and mindful that many of the challenges we faced as a community are far from over.  With the new national lockdown, meaning schools and businesses are closed for several months at least, we know that the impact on local residents will be significant both in terms of isolation and financial hardship.

We take heart from the way our community worked tirelessly and collaboratively over Christmas to reach those most in need.  Our Christmas In a Box initiative reached an incredible 8,365 local people with food, gifts and good cheer for the festive season.  Responses from residents, like the one below, demonstrated the enormous value of our collective efforts:

Thank you so much for all you have done, it was such a heart warming hamper to receive, truly appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. It’s been such a tough year and it’s people like you who make a difference. The food and gifts were very overwhelming. God bless you all”.

This wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of our supporters and the superhuman efforts of our army of local volunteers.

Special thanks to Be Fearsome, whose incredible staff and members were delivering our parcels all across the borough during Christmas week.

A huge thank you also to the many schools that were involved in this campaign, creating wonderful cards to go in the boxes, donating toys and raising funds.

As we face further uncertainty over the coming months, we continue to work with our partners to identify those most in need and to ensure nobody is left behind.  Throughout 2021, we will build on the innovative collaborations and partnerships that made such a difference to residents last year, to plan and deliver sustainable solutions for all of our community.

Without a doubt we will need your support, and we look forward to working with you to build better lives, together.

With best wishes
Victoria
