Working with the community to design, develop and decide small grants funding
The K+C Foundation is pleased to announce a partnership with RBKC to manage the VSSF (Voluntary Sector Support Fund) Small Grants Fund. The purpose of this fund is to improve outcomes for the most vulnerable residents, whilst also helping Kensington + Chelsea to become a fairer borough.
The fund will offer voluntary and community sector organisations grants towards core costs. These grants will be available to registered charities with income less than £100,000 and CICs limited by guarantee, and will be for between £5,000 to £30,000 per year for three years (2024-2027). A specific application form and criteria will be available in September 2023 (details below).
The K+C Foundation is an independent charity, which supports local projects addressing the significant inequalities in the borough. To help achieve this we work with local community stakeholders and residents to ensure that they have a voice in how funds are invested. For this fund we will be allocating grants using ‘Participatory Grant Making’. A panel (the K+C Community Panel) of residents with lived experience of the issues the fund seeks to address, will be recruited to design the application process, set the criteria, assess the projects and ultimately decide which projects are funded. All panelists will receive training around grant decision making.
Timings: The application process will open in September 2023, with the intervening period being used to recruit and train our K+C Community Panel. We expect decisions to be announced in December 2023 and the grant period will begin on 1st April 2024.
