A wonderful transformation of outdoor space

Partly funded by our Green Shoots grant, The Morley Summer Enrichment in partnership with Tayshan Hayden-Smith of Grow2Know, proved to be a great success. It directly involved a group of 16-18 year old learners, several of whom were new to the College, as well as wider involvement from the local community.

Happening as it did at the end of lockdown, the project provided a significant and hugely appreciated burst of outdoor activity for six weeks from mid-July to the end of August. As well as the transformation of the outdoor space at the front of the College, the clearing and planting of raised beds and the creation of new garden features and signage, the project also immersed the participants in a whole range of wider outdoor activities, with visits to other local projects.

The Morley Heart Gardens is a lasting legacy, now a permanent feature and welcome to the Morley North Kensington college.
