Please help local young people take part in the W11 Opera

Nationally acclaimed W11 Opera for Young People has been locally based for more than 45 years and each year commissions a new opera from a professional composer. Rehearsals take place at St James’s Church W11 with performances each December. W11 Opera provides a unique opportunity for young people from all backgrounds to nurture their musical talent and to develop their personal qualities and skills. The great bulk of expenses are covered by parents and volunteering.

W11 Opera runs school music workshops in local authority schools actively building partnerships with them to encourage any young person who wants to rehearse and take part in a production to audition to be involved.

The aim is to ensure that W11 Opera remains a dynamic and diverse organisation reflecting the social and cultural richness of the area in which it is based. W11 Opera wish to offer places to at least 10 of the 80 strong cast to those who will need full bursaries.

The Kensington & Chelsea Foundation has a generous promise from an anonymous donor who would like to support W11 Opera’s bursary programme over the next three years to allow young people to participate who cannot afford the subscription fee.

Our donor will make a gift of up to £3,000 a year to match any funding we can raise.
Please do help local young people to take advantage of this wonderful experience.

Just £500 will enable a young person, who otherwise would not be financially able to enjoy being part of W11 Opera, and will allow their families to see them perform free of charge.

Are you able to offer support of any amount to W11 Opera for the next three years to enable us to match the £3,000 per annum we have been offered?

We would be thrilled to hear from you if you can help or alternatively, please consider donating online.
