We provide a central service and expertise to those who want to give to help improve lives in our community. We work with our excellent network of local charities, helping them to achieve their ambitions to improve the lives of local people.
We raise awareness of the contrasts and needs that exist locally
We champion the work of small charities to attract support for them
We help donors makes choices about giving which match their own passions
We advise and devise effective ways for people to support local causes
We offer a central hub for giving from individuals, schools and businesses
We make grants to local charities that will offer real benefits to our community
We are a voice for small local charities and groups
We innovate and run impactful campaigns which tackle pressing issues
We encourage collaborations between several local charities through our own campaigns which strengthens the ability to respond and make a bigger impact on pressing needs. We currently run three campaigns:
Hands Across the Borough is our new campaign to combat isolation and loneliness, an issue that affects local people from all walks of life and all ages. Our big ambition is to raise £200,000 a year over the next three years to invest in projects with local charities that reach out to people who feel vulnerable and isolated.
Working together we can make a big difference.
With your help we will support those who are vulnerable including older people, those with disabilities or mental health problems, the homeless, young people struggling to integrate or those suffering from life changes such as bereavement and illness.
Everyone can get involved so please get in touch and we can talk about how you can help.
Winter Warmth raises funds so that oder people who face hardship during the winter months can be helped with their heating costs and keep warm.
Every penny we receive goes to those who need it most. Anyone can help but we particularly encourage those who receive the Government’s Winter Fuel Payment to donate all or part of it to a neighbour in need.
Please help if you can.
"I was awarded a Winter Warmth grant last Winter to cover my energy bills. This took away a great deal of stress and worry," A K&C resident.
‘This campaign is a wonderful way for people to share what they don’t seriously need. Donating your winter fuel allowance ensures it directly benefits neighbours in need.’
School summer holidays can be hard for low income families who struggle to pay for opportunities for their children which many of us take for granted. Summer Sparks is our campaign to address this.
Working with local community partners we give local children the chance to enjoy summer. Activities include arts, cooking, crafts, drama, music, sports and dance. Thank you to all of you who have helped us raise funds for this campaign. More news on 2017 soon.
“There is nothing better in the world than to see these kids smile, knowing that despite their troubled experiences, we can offer them the support and affection they deserve.” Summer Sparks volunteer.
